Maine Drug Rehab: ENSO Recovery’s Multi-Level Approach

At ENSO Recovery, addressing substance use disorder requires more than a one-size-fits-all solution. Our comprehensive, multi-level approach to addiction treatment provides individualized care that evolves with clients throughout their recovery journey.

Recovery doesn’t follow a straight line. That’s why ENSO’s treatment model offers varying levels of support, allowing clients to receive care that matches their current needs while preparing them for the next phase of their recovery.

Understanding the Recovery Journey

The path to recovery typically involves multiple stages, each requiring different types of support. Some individuals begin their journey needing intensive medical intervention, while others may enter treatment with more stability but require therapeutic support and life skills development.

ENSO Recovery recognizes these varying needs and provides treatment options designed to meet clients wherever they are in their recovery process. Our approach acknowledges that recovery is a personal journey, with each individual moving at their own pace through various levels of care.

Our Clinical Treatment Programs

The foundation of our approach begins with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for those battling Opioid Use Disorder. Our providers utilize medications such as Suboxone and Vivitrol to manage withdrawal symptoms and reduce cravings, creating stability that enables deeper healing work.

For those requiring structured therapy while maintaining daily responsibilities, our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) combines group therapy with life skills training. This program addresses both substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions, recognizing that effective treatment must consider the whole person.

As clients progress, they transition to our Outpatient Treatment (OPT) program. Here, individuals apply skills gained in more intensive treatment while gradually increasing their independence. This critical step bridges the gap between intensive care and self-sufficient recovery.

Understanding that recovery extends beyond clinical treatment, ENSO provides case management services to help navigate resources for housing, employment, and other essential needs. Our mental health counseling services address underlying psychological challenges that often accompany addiction.

Recovery Housing

What sets ENSO apart is our integration of clinical services with recovery housing. We operate five Level II and III recovery residences certified by the Maine Association of Recovery Residences (MARR) – with locations in both Augusta and Sanford. These gender-specific homes provide safe, supportive environments where residents can focus on healing while receiving appropriate clinical care.

Our Augusta location features a 22-bed male residence, a 13-bed female residence, and a specialized two-bedroom apartment for clients in the fourth phase of treatment. This apartment, while not gender-specific itself, requires occupants of the same gender at any given time and serves as a transitional space for those nearing independence.

In Sanford, we maintain both male and female recovery residences that complement our outpatient services located on Winter Street. All houses accept individuals on MAT, reflecting our commitment to evidence-based approaches and ensuring that medication support is never a barrier to stable housing.

The ENSO Difference: Comprehensive Care

ENSO Recovery stands out for its commitment to serving populations who often face barriers to treatment. Our primary focus includes post-release individuals as well as community members who lack financial resources to access housing and treatment on their own.

Our treatment paradigm includes purchasing homes in counties where we operate programs in county jails, creating a seamless transition for those entering recovery after incarceration. This approach has proven effective in reducing both substance use recurrence and criminal recidivism rates.

We’re also proud to be pioneers in the field as the first substance use treatment program to offer MAT in Maine county jails. Our advocacy for pre-arrest diversion at both state and national levels reflects our understanding that early intervention produces better outcomes.

From Treatment to Independence

This multi-level system allows clients to step down in care intensity as they gain confidence and stability, or step up when additional support is needed. The result is a responsive, personalized approach that adapts to changing needs throughout the recovery process.

Our outpatient centers in Augusta (90 Western Ave) and Sanford (14 Winter St) operate Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., providing accessible care to clients at various stages of recovery. The proximity of our clinical services to our recovery residences creates a cohesive environment where all aspects of the recovery journey are supported.

By addressing both clinical needs and housing stability, we create a framework where long-term recovery becomes possible. Our approach recognizes that healing takes time and that having the right supports in place at each stage dramatically improves outcomes.
