The first month after release is high risk. Planning your Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) before you walk out the door improves safety. ENSO Recovery provides MAT, intensive outpatient (IOP), outaptient therapy (OPT), and sober living recovery housing in Augusta and Sanford. Use this checklist to bridge from jail to community care.
Before release
- Confirm coverage. Ask jail staff to help check or restart your MaineCare. If you are eligible, complete applications or updates.
- Line up an intake. Schedule your first post-release MAT visit with ENSO Augusta or ENSO Sanford. Aim for an appointment within 1-3 days of release.
- Get records. Ask for your current medication list, dose, and last administration date.
- Plan transport. If you have MaineCare, arrange a Non-Emergency Transport ride for your first visit.
- Have naloxone. Get a free Narcan kit and know how to use it.
Days 1-3 after release
- Attend your intake and continue buprenorphine or naltrexone as directed.
- Pick up any new prescriptions.
- Share probation or court requirements with your care team.

Week 1
- Enroll in IOP or OPT based on your assessment.
- Ask about recovery housing if home is not stable.
- Carry naloxone and teach friends how to use it.
Weeks 2-4
- Keep all MAT and counseling visits.
- Use case management for IDs, benefits, and work readiness.
- Update your probation officer on treatment progress.
